LA Colors Matte Liquid Color Review - $2 Lipstick

Hey Y’all!
LA Colors Matte Liquid Color Review - $2 LipstickWhile perusing my the newly remodeled make up section at my local Dollar General, (DG 4 Lyyfe!) I came across this LA Colors Matte Liquid Color. I must say, I was intrigued. I couldn't find you guys a link, so you'll have to check your local DG for this product. So far, the only long wear lip color I have tried is Rimmel London’s Provocalips, which is thicker and is not matte finish, and a very, very obscure brand my sister ordered from Wish.com. I don’t like products from wish, but I tried hers anyway out of pure curiosity and I was impressed.) So, I snagged up two colors of the LA Colors Matte Liquid Color for a mere $2.00 each. I must say I was pretty skeptical of how this cheap matte lip color would turn out.

The second shade is pretty, but I am unsure if it suits my skin tone yet, so I used the Perfection for my review test. I did like the consistency and feel of the product.
It is a thin liquid with a bit of an oily feel, and a tad sticky.  The color is amazing also. The color, once applied, has the same brightness as it appeared in the tube and applies easily.

LA Colors Matte Liquid Color Review - $2 LipstickAfter trying my hardest to keep the product on my lips during application, I decided to let it dry a few seconds before closing my mouth. A good decision which was influenced by my previous experience with the wish brand. These types of colors stain skin quickly, so try using a small lip brush and applying it a small amount at a time. Once the product dries it seemed slightly sticky, but not gummy on my lips. So far, I am impressed. Let’s see how it held up against my rigorous tests!

First, I gave the lip color the finger. (Ha-ha…ha..ha…)

After rubbing my finger lightly, and then pretty vigorously, across my lips there seems to be very minimal smudge if any at all. I supposed that the slightly oily film it left on my finger constitutes as a smudge. I score it with a resounding 4 stars in the finger test.

Second, I gave it the blot test.
The more you touch this lip color the stickier it seems to get. I assume that the more it is touched the more of the oil used to keep it smooth, comes off. So, the napkin I used did stick some, and the amount of color that was removed was minimal. For the blot test I give another 4 stars.

Third, I gave it the liquids test.

By now the lip color is starting to clump on my lips some. This isn’t entirely the worst thing, but something I find common in long wear lip products. There was no loss of color on my glass, and the lip color still appears even on the lips. It doesn’t yet look like it is starting to wear off. It gets 4 stars in this category, also.

Lastly, is the food test.
After eating chocolate chip pancakes (which I made for my husband’s breakfast, and he didn’t finish) the lip color appears to be rubbing off on the inner part of my lips. To be honest, I am not that displeased here. I understand the complexity of creating a lip color that stays on no matter what, and the receding color isn’t as bad as I expected. I concluded that this was deserving of at least 4 stars.

So, in the end, I give the $2 score a total of 4.5 stars. My knowledge of long lasting lip color is limited, but with each new product I try I become more impressed. The LA Colors Matte is a pretty impressive find for a cheap matte lip color. It is the best matte lip color I have tried so far, and I don’t think you can beat $2. My store only carries a handful of very similar colors at this point, but I plan on keeping my eye out for their new products. 1. The other color makes me look dead. The one at the wedding was the product from wish.com. it's not a very good product, but urged me to try this one.
